Super Eagles and Manchester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho says his
teammates will need to ‘fight’ if they are to claim bragging rights in
the Manchester derby when they face United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
City have already beaten United once this season - 2-1 in the
Premier League at Old Trafford – but Iheanacho believes Wednesday’s
derby in the Cup will represent a different proposition.
The 20-year-old insists only a battling display at the ‘Theatre of
Dreams’ will see City claim prestigious scalp for the second time in as
many meetings.
“It’s going to be a tough one this time - it’s going to be a very, very tough one this time.
“So we need to fight back as well when we go there, we need to fight
really hard to get the win in the derby because if you lose there,
you’re out of the cup.
“They have great players, they have a good squad, they have a good manager.
“It’s a football game - they can win, they can lose; we can win, we
can lose. No-one knows what’s going to happen. We need to go there and
fight for 90 minutes,” Iheanacho was quoted as saying on the club’s
official website, www.mcfc.co.uk
Iheanacho has scored four goals for City in all competitions this season
