Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants 'special' Sergio Aguero to stay for a long time

Guardiola was keen to hammer-home the point ahead of the Manchester derby in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday, which is live on Sky Sports 1 HD, after national newspapers reported Aguero could leave after being left out of the team to face Barcelona last week.

The City boss insisted after their defeat in the Nou Camp that Aguero was firmly in his plans and, after confirming he could play against United at Old Trafford, Guardiola said: "I want to be clear again - I am so happy with Sergio.

"Hopefully he can stay for a long time here. I want, from deep in my heart, that he can stay here and play with us. "He is a special player, he is a striker who scores millions of goals in his career. I know for strikers it depends on the moment, but we cannot forget how many goals he scores for us."

Guardiola said he had not yet decided on his line-up to face Jose Mourinho for a second time this season,

Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out of Manchester City's EFL Cup fourth-round derby away to Manchester United on Wednesday night with a leg injury.

Manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the Belgium forward has picked up a knock as the City boss prepares to rotate his squad for the clash at Old Trafford,

Pablo Zabaleta is almost certainly out too but Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and a number of youngsters such as Aleix Garcia and Pablo Maffeo, who both played in the third-round win over Swansea, are in contention.
